Family stories

So, I had a request to write more family stories, some of these will be funny, and some may not be so funny. When the kids were still living with me I took them to all sports events. At the time it was just Jenny that was playing sports. She was playing softball and basketball initially and then did other sports later. When Jenny started playing basketball I was asked if I could be a game scorekeeper. I told them that I would be glad too and I was told that I had to sit at the scorekeeper's table which was on the other side of the gym from the stands. When you're the scorekeeper there are a lot of things that you have to watch out for, each point made, each foul and by whom, the free throws etc. With that being said, I had to have the boys sit in the bleachers, I put them on the front row and told them they needed to behave themselves. There are a lot of younger kids at the games and they are running around and at times causing issues. The boys knew how I felt about that and ...

Things to ask...Wife addition

This is going to be a little different than the others with the kids. I have changed the questions just a bit to relate to Angie and I. I know I will not make it through this one without an optic allergic reaction. Not that I made it through any of the others without that happening either.  In 2002 I married the most wonderful, caring, and forgiving person that I have ever met. Shortly after we were married I started my EMS career, for 20 years I worked 2 full-time jobs and Angie balanced everything at home virtually by herself. No words I could ever say or write could show my appreciation for all she has done and been through.  1. What is your favorite memory of us? There isn't one specific time, but it is a similar event. I love it when we go on trips together. It is so cool how you plan everything out, print out everything that you want to do, and directions. When you are awake(lol) you like to see things and we always do the coolest things.  2. What were th...

Things to ask your dad...Jen

I came across a guy on Instagram who posted a series of questions, It was things to ask your dad before it's too late. This struck a chord with me, as I have recently lost my dad some questions pop into my head all the time that I want to ask my dad about. These questions are asked as if I were the son asking my dad, however, I am changing it around and making it as if my kids are asking me these questions. I will make each post the answers for each of my kids. I hope this works out the way it does in my head.  I am not going in any specific order with these posts. I have decided to go with my amazing daughter Jen next. Angie says..."Her name is Jenny and she will always be Jenny". In my opinion, once you get to be successful and to the age Jen is then you lose the kiddy name. That is except Joey. lol 1. What is your favorite memory of us?  There are so many things that I can write here, it is impossible to say just one thing. When you were younger and we lived in Germa...

Things to ask your dad...Amanda

Unfortunately, Amanda and I do not see eye to eye on a lot of things. I do love Amanda and I truly wish that we had a better relationship. Also, all the other kids have their pictures with them, but I don't have any pics of her. I know that she is very particular about pictures of her so that is why I don't have one up.  1. What is your favorite memory of us? I will say that this is not my favorite ...

When we would all go to dinner we would always pick on the last person to get their food. It seemed like a curse, however looking back...the last person to get their food always had hot and fresh food. Not a curse. 1. What is your favorite memory of us? This has to be the easiest answer for all of the kids. When you were in flight school you took me up on one of your flights. You were so much better than I had expected. Not sayin...

If you don't know Joey,  you have never met Joey.  1. What is your favorite memory of us?  This is a really tough one for me, whenever you are around it is a fun time. I love the fact that you reference movies, music, and just funny sayings. I loved to see you interact with Kennon, y'all had fun telling corny jokes together.  2. What were the first few days of fatherhood like?  I hav...

Then again I might just bounce around, I am still trying to decide.  1. What is your favorite memory of us?  This is a really tough one to answer as there are so many. I can definitely say that the time that we spend together is a highlight in my life. I really love the fact that you give me hugs that come with meaning and love. I look forward to those hugs so much, not to mention when yo...

Do you know what it's like...(part 1)

I have been asked by many people what my purpose is for writing my blog, but I still can't pin down a real answer to that question honestly. To me, it is like I have all these things in my head and nobody to tell them to. I also think maybe someone might have the same thoughts and think that they are the only one. Maybe this is also a therapy for me, just writing things down helps me clear my head. Definitely not like an etch-a-sketch, making a picture and shaking it to erase it. I do feel some relief, but some things you can never forget. Oh, I have tried to get therapy but that effort has been futile, if you've tried then you know. This post will have a couple if not a few parts, it is a list of things that I have been through that just swim around in my head.  As I have said before, I have worked mainly in two different careers. I have worked hard in both careers, and I have been passed over for higher positions in both careers. When I was a helicopter mechanic I started o...
