FB friends(part 6)

This is a neat group of people...

I am starting with a young lady who I worked with at Hunter, Mrs. Brittany Murphy. I used to call Brittany "My work wife" when I was at the hangar, even Angie knew her as that which I thought was funny. Brittany and I would get lunch together, bring it back to the hangar, and eat. One day we ate at the place where we got food and ran late getting back. As we were in the turn lane to get on post I looked over and saw our boss in the lane next to us...Busted! He didn't look over but he saw us and we got a talking to when we got back. Brittany and I had lots of conversations about family, kids, and church. It was so awesome to watch her get married, start a family, and get involved in church. On several occasions, I have stopped by her house so her kids can get in the ambulance and ask me a bunch of questions. Brittany is very talented, she likes to paint, she paints on canvas and she'll paint the house. She has started a little business making bowl cozies and kid's capes. Brittany has 4 kids, makes products for her business, and paints, she just moved and now she's raising chickens. I wish I had half the energy she does. Brittany it has been awesome to see you and your family grow, it has been neat to see all the things that you have accomplished. I can't wait to see what the future has for y'all.

Jeff Hinchey was a dude that I worked with in Germany. Jeff was one of a kind, to say the least. He always had to have the latest and greatest of everything from phones to cars. Jeff was the kind of guy who would get the smallest phone they made and would whip it out in the club just to look cool. He was one heck of a mechanic and he was a cool guy who would help you out in a hot minute. We picked on Jeff sometimes because he liked to dye his hair...frequently. We told him that if he kept doing it that his hair was going to fall out. Well, one day it happened, Jeff had been bleaching his hair a lot and then it started falling out in clumps. Jeff was a pretty man, well-dressed, always wore the best cologne, and had fine jewelry...Then he had no hair because he had to shave it all off and start over. I really liked Jeff, he was easy to get along with and he treated everyone kindly. Sadly Jeff was involved in a mountain biking accident and was killed. Jeff, you are missed, rest in peace, my friend.

Let me tell you about my friend Kimmy Harley Lee. I went through EMT school with Kimmy in 2001, she gave me the nickname "Squeaky". She named me that as I was always bouncing my leg and my shoe squeaked on the leg of my table. Kimmy went through school, tested out, and then decided to go in another direction. I kept up with Kimmy and she started working in the x-ray dept. in Memorial Hospital. She was my go-to person I could talk to after a tough call, or if I was having a bad day or rough time. She would give me a hug(or vice versa), we'd talk and I would feel so much better. One day Kimmy told me that she was moving to Jacksonville and I was crushed., my support friend was leaving. Naturally, I kept in contact and we talked about work and family. Unfortunately, Kimmy was dealt a bad hand in her first marriage, but she kept her head up and moved forward. When she told me that she had found someone new I was so happy for her. I asked her if she had told him I was protective of her, and she said she had. Her husband is a godly man who absolutely loves her. They have 2 cute little boys that are the light of their lives. Kimmy, you are an amazing woman, I miss your hugs and kind words. It has been so awesome to see you and your family grow and can't wait to see what the future has for you.

Mr. Lennard Young is a great young man who has just celebrated his 19th year as a Certified Nurses Assistant at Candler Hospital. I think that I am probably the only one who calls Lennard, Lenny I do it out of friendship and not disrespect. Whenever I go to Candler in the evening or night I always look to see if Lenny is working. I always go and say hi, Lenny always gives me a hearty handshake and we catch up on the latest events in his life. I keep up with Lenny's posts on Facebook and he shares some of the most interesting facts. Lenny is the type of person who is friendly to everyone as he wants to be friends with everyone. He is also the type of person who will do anything for anyone without question, He is a hard worker and very meticulous in everything he does. I am glad Lenny is my friend and I can't wait to see him again.

I first met Art Foster when I started working for Medstar. Art is a super smart medic with a great attitude and he loves to teach people. I think I only got the chance to work with him once or twice, but I always felt welcome whenever I was around him. The memory that immediately pops into my head when I think of Art is the time he transported my father-in-law, Kennon. One day when I was at lunch my wife called me to tell me that Kennon was not feeling well. Angie told me what was going on with him and I immediately told her that he was having a heart attack and that I was going to have an ambulance sent to his house. The unit arrived at his house, assessed him, and transported Kennon to the hospital. I was working that evening and in my box was an EKG strip showing me that Kennon did indeed have a heart attack. I know Kennon received the best care because that is only what Art gives. Art moved on from Medtsar and started flying, I have seen him a couple times since then and he still has the same big smile. Art I miss seeing you, my friend.

Last but certainly not least, let me tell you about the sweetest medic I have ever met, Shelley Fields. Shelley was also a Medstar medic, she is this itty bitty young lady with the softest and cutest voice. I could sit there and listen to Shelley for hours, I always thought she was a perfect little angel. One day there was a group of us sitting around telling stories and Shelley told us all about a patient that she had with Tourette's Syndrome. The next thing we knew we heard "Foul and filth and filth and foul"(curse words) coming out of Shelley's mouth. I was mortified, the angel was gone. Shelly definitely didn't cuss regularly but at that moment...I have ridden with Shelley on calls and she is so kind to her patients, she is an amazing medic who has forgotten more than I will ever learn. Shelley left the city, she worked on a helicopter and she worked out in Effingham County. I used to relieve Shelley in the county and it was such a joy to come to work to see her smiling face. A funny little thing I remember about Shelley is that she loves candy cigarettes, well she loves candy period. Shelley, I love you and I miss you bunches. P.S. I still think she is a perfect angel.
