FB friends(part 2)

 Continuing on....

First, we have Adrian Lewis. I can't see a Pooler fire truck, or even be in Pooler without thinking of my funny encounter with Adrian. When you work in public safety you get used to seeing people in uniform, and when someone isn't in uniform you just don't recognize them. So, I was out to dinner with Angie and she went into the restaurant to see how long the wait was. I parked the car close and waited for her to text me to come in or not. Next thing I know Angie is calling me. Angie says you've gotta get in here, there's a girl in here having a seizure. So I run inside and as I do I can hear the fire dept coming up the road. I get inside and I care for the young lady as best I can, the next thing I know the firefighters walk in behind me. One of the FFs (Adrian) says "ok sir we've got it from here". I turned and looked at him in the face, and said "Really?" He replied back, yes sir you can step aside now. I said to myself, aight I'm out. Later on he saw me and apologized as he didn't realize who I was. I wasn't mad about it, I knew why he did what he did, and that is fine with me. But do I bust his chops about it every time I see him? You bet!

Alen Berger, is a young man that is no longer with us. I met Alan when I was working overseas, he worked as a driller in the oil research field. His job was to teach and help the guys who were drilling holes in which dynamite was placed to map below the surface to explore for oil. Alan was an easygoing guy who loved to laugh and he was good with his people. Alan was a hard worker as well, he would not ask anyone to do anything that he wasn't willing to do himself. He was from the beautiful country of Croatia, and he was proud of his family because he had pics of them all over the place. He will definitely be missed.

Adam Davis, I know Adam in a few different ways. Adam is a coworker at Effingham EMS, he is a tech at the ER, and he is also a friend of my son Joey. Adam is an easy going guy, he is really good at his job and is friendly with everyone. I know that he loves his family and he loves baseball. I often see Adam going here and there because of his bright yellow rides.

Next, we have Al Partain. I was with Al when I was in Germany, he was a Chinook guy so we weren't in the same unit. When you are in the service and in the aviation sector you tend to be in a rivalry between the different aircraft types. On our airfield, we just had the Chinooks and Blackhawks so we always picked on each other. Al wasn't really like that though, he got along with all of us. I want to say that we became friends when we were in the desert, we all lived in the same housing area. Al is a funny dude, he likes to have a good time and he was good to talk to. At the time he had one son and he loved him a whole lot. I have to be honest, once I left Germany and went to Ft. Benning I lost contact with Al. I am sure that he is doing great things, I am sure that he loves his family with all his being, and I am sure that he is making people laugh and smile wherever he is.

Michael Minger. I have known Mike for over 20 years now, we first met in Germany when we both worked in Mannheim together. I have often joked that Mike has been copying me for years. I came to Ga and Mike came later, I started in EMS and Mike started in EMS, I have a G-shock watch and Mike has the same G-shock watch. I know it isn't true but it makes me giggle. Mike is a great dude, an awesome dad, and a smart medic. I have watched Mike work on helicopters and people, he is a perfectionist. Mike wants to be the best at what he does, and he's not happy until he gets to that point. When you become a medic it takes time to get proficient and that drove Mike crazy. He got the above-average level quickly and excelled to become a great medic. I just talked to Mike the other night, he told me about how well his family was doing and how he has been caring for not only his family but his M.I.L. as well. I could hear the happiness in his voice and I am glad he is doing so well.

Last but not least, we have Nancy Baker. Nancy is the wife of Jerry Baker, Jerry and I worked together at Hunter and he helped me out a lot over the years. The first year that I was here with my family we had to evacuate due to a hurricane. I had no idea where to go and Jerry told me that we could all go to his families house in Florida. It was an adventure to get there too say the least, but once there we were treated like family. Nancy helped out with my small kids, she kept them occupied and taught them all kids of stuff around the house. Nancy is super sweet and she loves to help the people around her. It has been many years since I have seen Nancy but I am sure she is the same as the last day I saw her.
